Changing Plant-based Subsistence Practices among Early and Middle Holocene Communities in Eastern Maghreb

The eastern Maghreb is a key area for understanding environmental and cultural dynamics during the early and middle Holocene. Capsian populations from around 10000–7500 cal BP were among the last foragers in the region. Capsian sites are known as escargotières (land shell middens), and locally called rammadiyat (meaning ashy mound). The Sicilian territory as a whole presents orographic, geopedological, hydrographic characters and climate conditions that determine a wide diversity of environments that host a rich vascular flora consisting of over 3250 specific and intraspecific taxa (subspecies, varieties and forms), belonging to 880 genera of 134 botanical families (1). CITES konvencijas noteikumu pārkāpumu izpēte starptautiskajā lidostā “Rīga”

Maģistra darba mērķis ir izanalizēt CITES konvencijas pārkāpumus starptautiskajā lidostā „Rīga” un visā Latvijas teritorijā, to cēloņus, izstrādāt ieteikumus un risinājumus šo pārkāpumu novēršanai. Darbā analizēti autores veikto aptauju rezultāti, intervējot ielidojošos pasažierus starptautiskajā lidostā „Rīga” no Eiropas Savienības un trešajām valstīm par attieksmi pret CITES konvenciju, noskaidrojot informētības līmeni un informācijas avotus. Izanalizēta CITES konvencijas pārkāpumu skaita dinamika lidostā „Rīga” periodā no 2011.-2015.gadam. Maģistra darbs sastāv no 66 lapaspusēm. Darbs satur 23 attēlus, 3 tabulas, 54 izmantotos literatūras avotus un 1 pielikumu.

Study of quantitative and qualitative variations in essential oils of Sicilian oregano biotypes

Essential oil (EO) was extracted using hydrodistillation from samples of Origanum vulgare subspecies hirtum (Link) Ietswaart, gathered from the wild in various parts of Sicily, Italy; GC-FID and GC-MS analyses were subsequently performed. The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between essential oil yields and the geographical distribution of oregano wild populations based on variations in environmental factors as collection sites.
